Talla 2XLC -
The Realm of India/Sitara
It's been a little while since we checked in with Talla 2XLC. So to remedy this oversight we dropped the the Technoclub overlord a line to get an update on what he's been up to of late.
The answer, it seems, lies to the East and more specifically is emanating from around the Indian sub continent. It could have been his recent outing ‘Extravaganza’ (alongside Paul Miller) that set the tone. The track was signed to Perfecto Flouro and with Oakenfold’s revived-and-regenerated imprint turning out some truly next-gen Goa-trance of late, the track stormed the Trackitdown chart, hitting the top spot not long after release. If ‘Extravaganza’ had a mild Indian undertone, then it has to be said the next tracks (this time on his own Tetsuo label) are all-out fusion. A long time lover of Indian produced films, Talla reached out to ‘The King of Bollywood’, superstar Sharukh Khan. Obtaining permission to use the mystically transcendent vocals from ‘Tere Lyre’ - the theme tune from the smash 2004 Veer-Zaara movie - he’s woven them into ‘The Realm Of India’. Creating arguably the most authentic, intoxicating hybrid of European trance and Indian vocals yet produced, it’s a highly effecting (and effective!) release. ‘Realm’ is backed by the more bombastically club thumper, ‘Sitara’. That finds Mr 2XLC mixing up a tight, tensely coiled selection of shovelling beats, tech rhythms and synths stabs. Break-side and it drops into a judicious array of warping, pitching and phasing sounds and FX, which
(yes, say it!) are almost dubstep-ian in orientation. An eclectic, exotic pair of tracks, they're out now and available thru all good digital download stores. Seek and yee shall find!
